Atalanta made easy work of Everton with a 5-1 win to take control of top spot in Group E, while Lyon will join the Italian outfit in the Europa League knockout stage after a 4-0 victory over Apollon Limassol on Thursday.
It's the first time in over 25 years that Atalanta has reached the knockout phase of a European tournament.
Atalanta only had a 1-0 lead heading into the break before bombarding Everton with a series of attacks that resulted in four second-half goals.
Meanwhile, goals from Mouctar Diakhaby, Nabil Fekir, Mariano Diaz, and Myziane Maolida fuelled Lyon to a comfortable victory.
Atalanta and Lyon sit level on 11 points with one match remaining.
