Massimo Oddo was hired as Udinese's new manager Tuesday with the club uncertainly positioned three points above the relegation zone.

The 41-year-old, winner of the Scudetto and Champions League during his playing days with AC Milan, replaces journeyman tactician Luigi Delneri after he was sacked earlier in the day.

"The club haven't given me any specific targets other than to work hard on implementing my football philosophy. What you see on the pitch will be the result of the ideas I have in my head," Oddo said.

He added: "I'll consider all the players in the squad, including the Primavera lads. I want to have a look at everyone and exclude no one."

Oddo's Udinese initiation is a visit from table-topping Napoli on Sunday. Oddo was last in charge of Pescara, but was given the boot in February while the club's Serie A status was slipping away.
