Juventus lost more than just the Supercoppa Italiana on Friday, as the club confirmed that stud left-back Alex Sandro sustained a thigh injury during the contest against AC Milan.

In a brief statement, the Bianconeri noted "medical tests have shown that Alex Sandro strained the flexor muscles in his right thigh."

His condition will be monitored, with a timeline for his recovery expected to be provided in the coming days. Juventus doesn't take the pitch again until Jan. 8, when the reigning Serie A champion hosts Bologna.

Sandro, 25, was at his rampaging best prior to his substitution in the 33rd minute of Friday's eventual shootout loss, and his absence paved the way for Milan winger Suso to take over the match.

The Spaniard tormented Sandro's replacement Patrice Evra for the duration of the night, setting up Milan's goal and proving a constant threat Juventus simply couldn't handle.
