Juventus' Ronaldo diagnosed with 'minor' thigh injury

Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have avoided suffering a serious injury while on international duty, as Juventus announced Tuesday the superstar merely sustained a "minor" thigh ailment during Portugal's Euro 2020 qualifier. Further tests will be conducted to determine how long he will be sidelined, according to the club.

"After being forced to go out during the 30th minute of the match between Portugal and Serbia, Cristiano Ronaldo underwent examinations in Portugal that showed an apparent minor injury to his right thigh flexors," Juve's announcement read. "His condition will be monitored and will be subjected to new investigations to define the resumption of competitive activity."

The 34-year-old suffered the injury during Portugal's Euro 2020 qualifier against Serbia on Monday and limped off the pitch just 29 minutes into the contest.

However, Ronaldo allayed fears over a long-term absence when he told reporters after the match that he doesn't expect to miss more than two weeks.

"I am not worried, I know my body. It happens, it's football ... I am fine because I know I will come back in one or two weeks," Ronaldo said.

Ronaldo's diagnosis could lead to him missing the first leg of Juventus' Champions League quarterfinal clash with Ajax on April 10. However, the Italian side's leading scorer could be fit for the return leg in Turin six days later.
