Although he had no interest in suiting up for the Chargers, Eli Manning did keep the jersey the organization gave him after selecting him No. 1 overall in the 2004 NFL Draft.

The New York Giants quarterback was asked about the jersey's whereabouts Tuesday during an appearance on "The Dan Patrick Show," and said he still has it.

"I think my mom had it for a little bit, and I think she tried to, you know, she's like, 'Well we don't need this,' and tried to give it away to somebody. I think my dad wised up and said, 'You know, let’s just hold onto that for a rainy day, might be a good story.' So, it's in possession," Manning told Patrick.

Manning threatened to sit out the entire 2004 season if the Chargers drafted him. His father, Archie, was widely believed to have orchestrated the decision, but the elder Manning denied his involvement in a 2016 interview with "The Rich Eisen Show."

"It was a decision that Eli and (his agent) Tom Condon kind of made, but Eli ultimately pulls the trigger on that. That's what he, doing his due diligence, decided to do," Archie said. "I can't say it was pleasant from my end. Most people thought I orchestrated it, which I didn't. I don't tell my kids what to do or make the decisions for 'em."
