Since retiring from the NFL in 2016, Justin Tuck has been focused on making the transition from football to finance. His hard work paid off, because he's now set to join prestigious investment banking company Goldman Sachs.

The New York Giants defensive end, who won two Super Bowls with the team, graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in May with a Master of Business Administration in management. In July, he'll begin his new career at Goldman Sachs as a vice president in the private wealth management division, according to Ali Montag of CNBC.

Landing a job at Goldman Sachs isn't easy. As Montag notes, the company hired only 3 percent of more than 300,000 applicants in 2015.

While speaking at Wharton's Global Forum in New York City recently, Tuck credited his success in both his past and current careers to preparation.

"My success in that Super Bowl was just being prepared," Tuck said. "I mean, you're foolish if you go into that game and you haven't done all of your film work, all of your practice, ate the right things and so on."

At the NFL level, "not being prepared means Tom Brady throws 400 yards against you," he added. "Not being prepared at a place like Goldman Sachs means that some of your trusted clients are losing money."
