Deandre Ayton is expected to go first overall in Thursday's NBA draft, and while many believe the Bahamian big man is a generational player, the 19-year-old just wants to prove he belongs in the league.

"Definitely getting to my second contract," Ayton said Wednesday about his NBA goal, per ESPN's Ian Begley. "That's my success."

The Phoenix Suns have the No. 1 selection and are believed to be high on the center, who played his college ball at nearby Arizona. If they draft him, they'll be hoping Ayton can become the player that's drawn pre-draft comparisons to everyone from Karl-Anthony Towns to David Robinson.

Ayton experienced a turbulent ride from the Bahamas through the U.S. high school and AAU system, according to a feature article by Yahoo's Jeff Eisenberg, Pat Forde, and Pete Thamel. "One of the lessons of Deandre's story is the buffoonery involved with the people around him," basketball organizer Dinos Trigonis is quoted as saying.
