Lue: LeBron leading by example with attempt to play every single game

LeBron James seemingly has no desire to take time off or sit a stretch of games this season, especially after watching the Cleveland Cavaliers undergo an extreme makeover at the trade deadline.

The Cavaliers don't intend on running James into the ground heading into the playoffs, either, but if the four-time NBA Most Valuable Player insists on playing, then that's the way it's going to be.

"I just think being the leader of this team, I don't think he thinks he can take games off, because, you know, guys being hurt and going through a rough patch, and now new guys coming in," Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue said prior to Friday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

"So, I think he's trying to lead and lead by example ... I think we still got to be smart about the situation, but (the training staff) say he feels good."

Never before in James' illustrious career has he suited up for a full 82-game slate, which he's currently on pace to do. It was in 2008-09 during his first run with the Cavaliers when the now 33-year-old competed in 81-straight games before sitting out the season finale.

James said earlier in the year that running the table and going 82 of 82 was a goal of his, as long as his health allows him to do so, according to McMenamin.

In Cleveland's 112-89 win over the Grizzlies at the FedExForum, James notched his 11th triple-double of the campaign with 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists in 37 minutes of action. He's totaled fewer than 30 minutes of playing time on just four occasions across 58 appearances, and over 35 minutes 42 times.
