Report: UFC plotting May event in Dublin

Gregory J. Fisher / USA TODAY

The UFC is headed back to the Emerald Isle.

The promotion will visit Dublin for the fourth time on Sunday, May 27 for an event at 3Arena, sources told MMA Fighting's Peter Carroll on Friday. No fights have been attached to the bill as of yet.

The Irish capital first hosted the Octagon in January 2009 for UFC 93, and most recently in October 2015 for UFC Fight Night 76, where Louis Smolka submitted native son Paddy Holohan in the second round of the flyweight main event after Joe Duffy pulled out of the original lightweight headliner opposite Dustin Poirier just three days prior.

All three of the UFC's visits to Ireland have taken place at 3Arena (formerly known as the O2).
