The Detroit Tigers have agreed to a one-year, $4-million deal with left-handed pitcher Francisco Liriano.

The contract reportedly contains $1 million worth of incentives, including a $250,000 bonus if Liriano were to win this year's AL Cy Young award, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Liriano is expected to compete for a role in the Tigers' starting rotation. He's projected to fill out the back-end of the staff behind Michael Fulmer, Matthew Boyd, Jordan Zimmermann, and Mike Fiers.

The 34-year-old split time between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Houston Astros. In Toronto, he made 18 starts before being used exclusively as a reliever with the Astros, including two brief World Series appearances.

In the regular season, Liriano went 6-7 with a 5.66 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP. His Achilles heel has always been his inability to throw strikes with consistency, averaging four walks per nine innings over his 12-year career.
