Jonny Evans will continue to captain West Bromwich Albion after being disciplined by the club for a wild night out in Barcelona.

Manager Alan Pardew confirmed Thursday that Evans and three other West Brom players were punished for breaking curfew during their mid-season retreat last week.

"Jonny will be captain on Saturday (versus Huddersfield Town) subject to him coming through fitness in the next couple of days," Pardew told reporters, including the Birmingham Mail's Paul Suart.

Catalan police alleged that Evans, Gareth Barry, Jake Livermore, and Boaz Myhill stole a taxi in the middle of the night, but BBC Sport's Patrick Jennings said the case was thrown out because of a dearth of evidence.

The "Cab Four," as they've been dubbed in the English press, were reportedly docked two weeks' wages.

The trip to Spain was meant to foster team spirit ahead of a massive relegation battle, but instead left last-placed West Brom with a mess to clean.

"That incident magnified our situation, and the only way we can get ourselves out of that spotlight is to win games," Pardew added. "Our focus, for me, my staff, and the team, it's about winning the game."

The Baggies are seven points away from safety.
