U.S. ends gold medal drought with triumph over Canada
Canada's run of dominance in women's hockey is over after the four-time defending gold medalists lost to the U.S. in a shootout Thursday. Twenty years after beating the Canadians in Nagano, Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson was the hero at PyeongChang 2018 after scoring the winning goal in a thrilling shootout that sent the U.S. team into a frenzy and end Canada's reign. Shiffrin snags silver in Alpine combined; Vonn fails to finish
The first encounter between Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin at PyeongChang 2018 failed to live up to the billing in Thursday's Alpine combined. Vonn, competing in what's likely her last Olympic race, failed to finish after missing an early gate, while Shiffrin added a silver medal to her collection as Switzerland's Michelle Gisin beat the American by 0.97 seconds. Russian curler stripped of medal for doping
Russian curler Alexander Krushelnitsky was stripped of the bronze medal he won with his wife, Anastasia Bryzgalova, in mixed curling after admitting to doping at PyeongChang 2018. The Court of Arbitration for Sport announced the decision Thursday in the wake of a drug test that found traces of the drug meldonium, which is used to help blood circulation, in Krushelnitsky's system. Wise successfully defends gold medal
There was a familiar sight atop the podium at the conclusion of the men's freestyle halfpipe, as David Wise defended his gold medal from Sochi 2014. Wise's triumph resulted in the U.S. winning its third gold in the halfpipe. (Read more)
