Parrot, McMorris, Garcia lead elite group into big air final
The stage has been set as 12 of the world's best snowboarders qualified for the big air final scheduled for Friday (in the Eastern Time Zone).
With the event split into two heats, Canada's Max Parrot led the way, finishing with a score of 92.50. Slotting below him and qualifying for the final were three Americans, including 17-year-old slopestyle gold medalist Redmond Gerard.
The six-best scores from each heat advance to the final.

Heat 2 participants Tyler Nicholson of Canada (89.25) and Finland's Peetu Piiroinen (87.25) and Roope Tonteri (86.50) missed the cut despite outscoring Redmond from Heat 1.

Of the 12 finalists, the United States and Canada are tied with three apiece, with Switzerland sending two. Parrot and McMorris will hope to carry momentum from the slopestyle final, which saw the Canadians win silver and bronze, respectively.
