Florida Atlantic defensive coordinator Chris Kiffin, the brother of FAU head coach Lane Kiffin, will leave the program to join the San Francisco 49ers as the pass-rush specialist coach, sources told Bruce Feldman of Sports Illustrated.

Chris elevated the team's defensive ranking from 124th to 37th in his one season as DC.

San Francisco tied for 26th in the league in sacks in 2017. The No. 3 pick in the 2017 draft, defensive end Solomon Thomas is set to take on a larger role in 2018, and Chris will apparently be the man to help mold the pass-rusher.
