The ATP is reportedly investigating an incident between American players Ryan Harrison and Donald Young at the New York Open on Monday, in which Young said Harrison made racist remarks about him.

"I'm shocked and disappointed, Ryan Harrison, to hear you tell me how you really feel about me as a black tennis player in the middle of our NY match," Young tweeted after the match. "I thought this was supposed to be an inclusive gentleman's sport."

According to Eleanor Crooks of the Press Association, the tour's governing body released the following response: "The ATP takes any allegations of racial prejudice extremely seriously. A further review of all video and audio recording from the match will take place as this matter is investigated further."

As of now, there does not appear to be a clear audio recording of the heated verbal confrontation.

After seeing Young's comments, Harrison - who won the match 6-3, 7-6 (4) - responded on Twitter, flatly denying the claim of racism and saying Young had said what he said "in reaction to a lost tennis match."

"Any video/audio will 100 percent clear me and I encourage anyone with the available resources to find it," Harrison said.

This isn't the first mid-match confrontation Harrison has had this year. He was heard making profane, vitriolic comments during a match against German player Yannick Hanfmann in Brisbane (though it's unclear to whom they were directed), and toward fans of Israeli player Dudi Sela at the Australian Open.

Young and Harrison could meet again in the second round of the doubles draw at the New York Open.
