Paul to Lillard when confronted over running up score: 'Y'all wasn't guarding'

Chris Paul is a savage.

The Houston Rockets point guard collected a season-high 37 points in Wednesday's win over the Portland Trail Blazers, but it wasn't without controversy.

While players tend to dribble out the clock on the final possession when the game's out of reach, CP3 went right to the rim for a layup with his team leading by seven with under 20 seconds remaining.

Damian Lillard took exception to that and confronted the veteran.

"Y'all wasn't guarding," Paul replied, as relayed by Lillard to Blazers reporter Casey Holdahl.

He wasn't wrong. No Blazer was even in the paint by the time Paul released the ball, but to Lillard, that wasn't the point.

"They won the game, they did more things than we did … but as far as sportsmanship goes, and you know, respect … if the roles were reversed, I don't think they would like it," the two-time All-Star said after the 121-112 loss, as quoted by NBC Sports Northwest's Jason Quick.
