Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is in the preliminary stages of working out a contract extension for goaltender Anthony Stolarz.

"We've certainly explored some things with Anthony and his representative, and we'd love to find a way to get something done," Treliving told The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun on Tuesday. "If there's something that both sides are comfortable with, we'll look at it. And we've been in those discussions for some time right now. We'll see what the coming days bring."

Stolarz is entering the final season of the two-year, $5-million contract he signed with Toronto in 2024 and is eligible to ink an extension at any point. The 31-year-old was phenomenal in his first campaign with the Maple Leafs, going 21-8-3 with four shutouts, a .926 save percentage, and 31.2 goals saved above expected.

His 34 starts were the most of his career. Stolarz took charge of Toronto's No. 1 goalie spot over Joseph Woll, but he missed time during the regular season due to knee surgery and then was injured in the second round of the playoffs on a controversial collision with Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett.

The Maple Leafs are projected to have approximately $24.8 million in cap space for the 2026-27 season, according to PuckPedia. Stolarz is Toronto's most prominent player set to begin the upcoming campaign on an expiring contract.
