The Philadelphia Phillies placed star first baseman Bryce Harper on the 10-day injured list with right wrist inflammation, the club announced Saturday.

Philadelphia selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Otto Kemp from Triple-A in a corresponding roster move.

Harper was out of the lineup for Friday's series opener at PNC Park against the Pittsburgh Pirates because of right wrist soreness and was initially deemed day-to-day by Phillies manager Rob Thomson.

"He's just having trouble swinging," Thomson said. "So, if it's affecting his swing, then we're going to hold him off and get it right."

The 32-year-old recently missed five games with an elbow injury after Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider hit him with a 95-mph fastball May 27.

Alec Bohm started Friday's contest at first base in Harper's absence. The Phillies have been scuffling lately, losing three consecutive games and seven of 10 overall.

Harper is slashing .258/.368/.446 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs in 57 outings this season.

Kemp, 25, has put up strong numbers at Triple-A this season with 14 home runs, 55 RBIs, 11 stolen bases, and a 1.010 OPS in 224 at-bats.
