The Chicago Bears signed newly acquired guard Joe Thuney to a two-year extension, his agent told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The deal is worth $35 million, including $33.5 million guaranteed, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Thuney would become the highest-paid guard in NFL history if he plays out the contract.

The 32-year-old was traded to the Bears from the Kansas City Chiefs in March and was entering the final year of a five-year contract. Bears general manager Ryan Poles said in April that extending Thuney was a top offseason priority for the club.

Thuney moved from guard to left tackle midway through the 2024 season and remained in the position through the Chiefs' playoff run. Thuney's posted the NFL's highest pass-block win rate across the past two campaigns.

He had won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs and two with the New England Patriots while playing almost every snap throughout his nine-year career. Thuney earned first-team All-Pro honors and Pro Bowl selections in each of his last two seasons with Kansas City.
