The Minnesota Twins placed shortstop Carlos Correa on the seven-day concussion injured list, the club announced Friday.

Correa was injured in a collision with teammate Byron Buxton during Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Buxton remains in concussion protocol.

The Twins recalled infielder Ryan Fitzgerald in a corresponding roster move to take Correa's place on the roster.

Correa is off to a slow start this season, slashing .236/.274/.331 with two home runs, eight doubles, and 13 RBIs in 41 games. The 30-year-old had been heating up before the injury, registering eight hits in 23 at-bats with an .853 OPS over his last seven games.

Brooks Lee is batting third and playing shortstop in Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fitzgerald, 30, is hitting .328 with four home runs, 11 doubles, 21 RBIs, and a .954 OPS across 35 games at Triple-A this season.
