Marc-Andre Fleury announced his retirement from the NHL on Thursday after the Minnesota Wild's Game 6 loss, officially ending a career that spanned 21 seasons.

The 40-year-old racked up 575 wins and is one of three goaltenders to eclipse the 500-victory plateau, ranking second all time behind Martin Brodeur (691).

The first overall pick in 2003, Fleury won three Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins. His lone Vezina trophy came in 2021 with the Vegas Golden Knights.

Fleury's last NHL appearance came in relief of Filip Gustavsson during Game 5 of the Wild's first-round elimination against the Golden Knights. Gustavsson exited the game due to illness, and Fleury stepped in for the third period and overtime. He made six saves on seven shots in the loss.

The 40-year-old played one season with the Chicago Blackhawks. He was traded to the Wild during the 2021-22 campaign and spent the final three and a half years of his career in Minnesota.
