The Chicago Cubs acquired reliever Ryan Brasier and cash from the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the clubs announced Tuesday.

The Dodgers designated Brasier for assignment last week to clear space on the 40-man roster after signing veteran reliever Kirby Yates to a one-year deal.

Brasier, 37, posted a 3.54 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 29 appearances for the Dodgers in 2024. He also made eight appearances in the postseason, helping L.A. win the World Series.

Brasier will provide Cubs manager Craig Counsell with a trusted veteran option in the bullpen alongside Ryan Pressly and Porter Hodge in late-inning situations.
