Report: EA Sports, 2K discussing new college basketball video games
Another discontinued sports video game franchise could be making a return following the release of EA Sports College Football 25.
EA Sports and Take Two (2K) have had internal discussions separately about a college basketball video game, multiple sources told Mike Straw of Insider Gaming. It's unknown how far along the talks are, but groups within each company are pushing heavily for new games, Straw reports.
Both companies had college basketball video game franchises in the past. EA Sports' NCAA March Madness, later known as NCAA Basketball, was published from 1998 until its discontinuation in 2009, while 2K Sports' College Hoops series ran from 2005 to 2007.
EA Sports resurrected College Football earlier this year after discontinuing the series in 2013 because of legal disputes over the use of player name, image, and likeness. More than 10,000 athletes have agreed to have their likenesses featured in the latest installment.
