Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin will undergo left hip surgery and is expected to miss four-to-six months, the team announced Wednesday.

Seguin, 32, has nine goals and 20 points in 19 outings this season and ranks third on Dallas in scoring.

The Stars placed Seguin on injured reserve Monday. He had missed five contests this season due to recurring lower-body issues.

"It's going to be one of the most interesting years of my career, I would say," Seguin told team reporter Mike Heika on Saturday before he was placed on injured reserve. "Hopefully, at the end of the day, it's with a big shiny thing in the end."

The Stars can put Seguin and his $9.85-million cap hit on long-term injured reserve.

Seguin underwent right hip surgery in 2020. He was limited to only three games in the following 2020-21 campaign.

The 2010 second overall pick is 12 contests away from reaching the 1,000-game mark. Seguin has 360 and 808 points in his NHL career.
