Indiana and Curt Cignetti agreed to an eight-year contract extension through 2032 that contains an average annual compensation of $8 million, the program announced Saturday.

The deal also contains an additional annual $1 million retention bonus.

"Since arriving on campus, Coach Cignetti has been the architect of one of college football's greatest turnarounds and has shown the world that IU is also a football school," Indiana president Pamela Whitten said in a statement Saturday.

In addition to improved terms, Cignetti's new contract also contains assurances around infrastructural support for the program, according to the Indy Star's Michael Niziolek and Zach Osterman.

The extension comes after Cignetti has led the Hoosiers to a perfect 10-0 start to the season. It's the first 10-0 start in the program's history and also the football team's first 10-win campaign ever.

Indiana's hot start led to the program being ranked fifth in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.

Cignetti was hired following the 2023 season after Indiana fired Tom Allen. Cignetti previously coached at James Madison, where he posted a 19-4 record in the Dukes' first two seasons at the FBS level.
