The Toronto Blue Jays traded utility player Cavan Biggio and cash considerations to the Los Angeles Dodgers for minor-league pitcher Braydon Fisher, the clubs announced Wednesday.

The Dodgers inserted Biggio into the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers. He'll play third base and bat ninth.

Biggio was designated for assignment on June 7. The 29-year-old registered a .614 OPS with two home runs, nine RBIs, and two stolen bases across 44 games for the Blue Jays this season.

"Tough to have him leave, obviously, we said that a couple days ago, nature of the business sometimes, but happy that Cavan landed on his feet on a good team," Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Wednesday, according to Davidi.

Biggio is a versatile defensive player, seeing time at first base, second base, third base, and right field so far in 2024.

He'll give the Dodgers another option off the bench, alongside Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor.

Biggio's best season came in 2020 when he posted a 122 wRC+ with eight home runs, 41 runs scored, and 28 RBIs over 59 games during the shortened campaign.

Fisher was a fourth-round pick in 2018. The 23-year-old right-hander owns a 2-1 record with a 5.68 ERA and 30 strikeouts across two minor-league levels this season.
