Georgia linebacker Nolan Smith will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn pectoral, sources told Pete Thamel of ESPN.

It's uncertain if the projected first-round pick in the 2023 draft will be able to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine, adds Thamel.

Smith - who suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday's win over Florida - will undergo surgery Thursday, and "a full recovery is anticipated," Georgia announced Tuesday, according to Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated.

The 21-year-old has been a key starter on the Bulldogs' defense over the last two years. He leads the team with three sacks and seven tackles for loss.

The former five-star recruit racked up 53 tackles (seven for loss) and 3.5 sacks last season.

Chaz Chambliss, Robert Beal, and MJ Sherman should receive expanded roles in Smith's absence.

Georgia is set for a No. 1 versus No. 2 clash with Tennessee on Saturday. Both teams enter the SEC matchup at 8-0.
