Ferrari called Charles Leclerc in for what proved to be a costly pit stop for The Prancing Horses and the polesitter in particular during Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix.

After calling the Monegasque driver in during the 25th lap of his home grand prix, the team radio then clearly rescinds the order, telling Leclerc to "stay out." The problem is, Leclerc was already in the pit.

Leclerc, clearly livid with the decision and entering the race as the polesitter, then wound up leaving his second pit stop of the race, rejoining the grid in fourth place, behind both Red Bulls. Teammate Carlos Sainz, who was in the pit when Leclerc arrived, rejoined the race in second place.

The 24-year-old was off to a hot start to the 2022 season, winning two of the first three races. However, recent struggles have cost him both the driver's championship lead and Ferrari the constructors' lead to reigning champ Max Verstappen and his Red Bull team, respectively.

This is the latest gaffe to cost Leclerc at his home grand prix, which he's failed to finish five times dating back to his Formula 2 tenure.

He clinched his second straight pole position at Monaco during qualifying Saturday, though he was unable to start last year's race due to car damage.
