Maryland wide receiver Dontay Demus Jr. will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, head coach Mike Locksley said Tuesday, according to Emily Giambalvo of The Washington Post.

Locksley said Demus will undergo surgery. However, the coach didn't reveal whether Demus injured his ACL.

The Terrapins' top receiving target suffered the ailment on a kickoff return during Friday's 51-14 loss to Iowa. He had to be carted off the field.

Demus currently leads the Big Ten in receiving yards with 507. He also added three touchdowns this season.

The senior has recorded 1,775 yards on 106 receptions for 13 touchdowns in his career at Maryland.
