The Houston Texans selected tight end Brevin Jordan out of Miami in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 147th overall.

Jordan was expected to come off the board in Day 2, but slipped to the third pick of the fifth round. The 20-year-old ranked second on the Hurricanes last season with 576 receiving yards while catching seven touchdowns despite uneven quarterback play.

The Texans add Jordan to a position group led by Jordan Akins, a fourth-year pro who had 403 yards and one touchdown in 2020.

Houston has now used its first three draft choices on offensive players, grabbing both quarterback Davis Mills and wide receiver Nico Collins in the third round.

Key stats: 38 receptions, 576 yards, 7 touchdowns, 15.2 YPC

Jordan is probably a movable offensive weapon as opposed to a true tight end at this moment, but that doesn't mean he can't make an impact at the next level. The former Hurricane offers plenty of speed and may be the most productive after the catch among his peers - he often resembles an oversized running back with the ball in his hands. Jordan's largest hurdle in Year 1 will be earning enough snaps to make plays, as many teams value blocking prowess at the position. Still, there's enough upside and positional versatility as a matchup-winner here to warrant a Day 2 selection.
