Overeem doesn't see Lesnar returning to UFC: 'It's over with him'

Alistair Overeem doesn't expect to see former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar back in the Octagon.

Lesnar recently became a free agent following the expiration of his WWE contract, leading to speculation that he could re-sign with the UFC. But Overeem, a heavyweight contender who finished Lesnar in his UFC debut in 2011, doesn't see that coming to fruition.

"He's 43 years old. To be honest, I don't think he's coming back," Overeem told TMZ Sports. "Last time he came back, it was a debacle, so I don't think he's gonna come back. I was wrong, though, about the last time, because I predicted the same."

Lesnar hasn't stepped into the cage since his fight against Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in 2016. He initially won via unanimous decision, but the result was later overturned to a no-contest after Lesnar failed two USADA drug tests. The South Dakota native retired after the bout, and while he was in talks to face Daniel Cormier in 2018, he ended up keeping his focus on pro wrestling.

Overeem, who's scheduled to meet Augusto Sakai in the UFC Fight Night main event on Saturday in Las Vegas, suggested he has little interest in a rematch with Lesnar after winning the first clash.

"I beat him up. ... If somebody wants a rematch, it would've been him, right?" Overeem said. "I already did it. Why would I chase him? Who cares about Brock? ... He's 43 years old, he flunked tests. It's over with him."
