UFC 249 set for arena in Jacksonville
UFC 249's exact location has been set.
The May 9 pay-per-view card will take place at the 15,000-seat VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, the UFC announced Friday.
The event was originally slated for April 18 in New York - and later California - but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic after executives from UFC broadcast partner ESPN and its parent company, Disney, told UFC president Dana White to "stand down."
Earlier this month, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis deemed pro sporting events an essential service, opening the door for the UFC to hold shows in the state amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
UFC 249 will be closed to fans, per the governor's guidelines.
An interim lightweight title bout between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje will headline the card. Bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo will fight Dominick Cruz in the co-main event.
