The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a minor-league deal with right-handed reliever Brandon Morrow, a source told Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

If he makes the big-league roster, Morrow will earn $1 million and can bump that total up to $2.25 million if he appears in 65 games, according to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports.

The veteran hurler signed a two-year, $21-million contract with the Cubs prior to the 2018 season. He posted a 1.47 ERA while recording a career-high 22 saves across 30 2/3 innings with Chicago in 2018. The team declined his $12-million option for 2020 in November.

Morrow, 35, didn't pitch at all in 2019 due to an elbow injury. He says his arm is feeling great following the extended layoff, according to Rogers.

The oft-injured Morrow parlayed a resurgent 2017 with the Los Angeles Dodgers into his two-year pact in Chicago. As the primary bridge to Kenley Jansen, Morrow had a 2.06 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings.
