The NBA has removed center Timofey Mozgov's $16.7-million salary from the Orlando Magic's salary books after the club successfully filed a career-ending injury/illness application, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

In July, the Magic exercised the stretch provision on Mozgov's contract and waived him, Charania notes.

Orlando now no longer has to carry Mozgov's $5.6-million cap hit, which would have been on the team's books in each of the next three seasons.

Mozgov, who owns career averages of 6.8 points and 4.9 rebounds, underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in January.

The big man last appeared in an NBA game during the 2017-18 season with the Brooklyn Nets.
