Baltimore Ravens safety Earl Thomas said he was fined $21,000 by the NFL for a blow to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph that knocked the pivot out of their Week 5 game.

While leaping at Rudolph, Thomas' helmet connected with the quarterback's chin. Rudolph was concussed on the play and had to be helped off the field.

Rudolph has yet to be cleared for Sunday night's contest against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Thomas also said he tried calling and texting Rudolph, but that he's been unable to make contact.

"I wanted him to know that I didn't do it on purpose. That's all I wanted him to know," Thomas told ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

Thomas expanded on that sentiment while speaking with Jordan Giorgio of NBC Sports Washington.
