Purdue's Sindelar out 6-8 weeks after clavicle surgery

Purdue quarterback Elijah Sindelar could miss most - if not all - of the regular season after undergoing surgery to repair a broken clavicle.

"From what they are telling us, it's a good six-to-eight weeks," head coach Jeff Brohm said Thursday, according to Tom Dienhart of GoldandBlack.com. "If he were to be able to come back, it would be very late in the season. That is still something that wouldn't be determined until later."

Sindelar went down Sept. 28 against Minnesota on the same play that also saw star receiver Rondale Moore suffer a leg injury. Moore is considered week-to-week.

In parts of three games this year, Sindelar completed 64.3% of his passes for 978 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. The fifth-year senior was named a team captain before the season for the second time in his career.

Jack Plummer will take over starting duties while Sindelar is sidelined. Purdue has dropped three of its first four games, putting its postseason hopes in serious danger early.
