Minnesota's Heise day-to-day with upper-body injury
PWHL Minnesota star forward Taylor Heise missed Wednesday's 2-1 win over Ottawa with an upper-body injury.
Heise is officially considered day-to-day, per a league announcement.
The ailment will likely keep her out of Saturday's matchup as well. Heise was seen with her arm in a sling, according to Star Tribune's Jerry Zgoda.
Heise suffered the injury during Game 7 of the Rivalry Series on Sunday while breaking up a scoring chance in the first period. The 23-year-old center was unable to return to the contest.
"Given this high level of hockey - with international hockey and the PWHL - she's just taking a beating with these open-ice hits they're allowing," Minnesota general manager Natalie Darwitz said. "It doesn't bode well for the skilled players who carry the puck. Knowing Taylor, she's superhuman. She'll probably be back sooner than what her prognosis is."
Heise has totaled three goals and six points in nine PWHL games so far this season. Minnesota currently sits first in the league with a 6-2-2-0 record.
Minnesota selected Heise with the first-ever draft pick in PWHL history.
