Jason Day: 'It's like Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy had a baby - and I was it'
Jason Day is feeling good about his game. Really good.
The top-ranked golfer in the world, Day has won four of his last six tournaments, including his first major at the PGA Championship. He's won five times this season, and carded top-10 finishes at the U.S. Open (ninth) and The Open Championship (fourth).
Day's never played better. He knows it. And he's confident.
"It's like Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy had a baby - and I was it," Day said, according to ESPN's Jason Sobel. He was talking about his place in the game ahead of the Tour Championship, which begins Thursday.
"I've had a lot of failures," Day added, "but they've been good experiences for me."
Day's five wins are one more than Spieth's on the season, and should Day win this weekend, he'll become only the fourth golfer in the last 40 years to win six tournaments in a season.
Spieth dominated the start of the 2015 season. But Day's taken over, and he'll be looking to punctuate his breakout year with one more win.
