Phil Mickelson was clearly frustrated following Team USA's 3rd straight loss to Team Europe at the Ryder Cup, enough so that he called out U.S. captain Tom Watson.
"We had a great formula in '08 and I don't know why we strayed from it," Mickelson said in a greenside interview a few yards away from the European celebration. "I don't know why we don't even try going back to it. But what Zinger (former captain Paul Azinger) did was really a good formula. And maybe we ought to re-invent something like that."
Mickelson is referencing the last win by Team USA, which came in 2008 by the same score they lost to this year, 16 1/2 - 11 1/2. That year, the team was captained by Azinger, who developed a system the players were happy with throughout the competition.
Mickelson ended the final day defeating Stephen Gallacher 3 & 1 during singles play.
