Rory McIlroy isn't too caught up in adding to his win total at this stage of his illustrious career.

The 34-year-old has a chance to end an eight-year major drought this weekend at the PGA Championship, but he isn't letting results dictate his mindset.

"If I don't win another tournament for the rest of my career, I still see my career as a success," McIlroy said, per GOLF.com. "I still stand up here as a successful person in my eyes."

McIlroy has 23 career PGA TOUR wins to his name, including four majors and three FedEx Cup titles. However, he's mired in a difficult stretch this season having missed the cut at The Players and the Masters. He's only played once since his letdown at Augusta National, a T-47 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship earlier this month.

The World No. 3 drew criticism earlier this season for withdrawing from the RBC Heritage. It was the second designated event he failed to show up for on the year, costing him $3 million for going against the rules he helped influence as the TOUR orchestrated a plan to fight the threat of LIV Golf.

McIlroy, the most outspoken TOUR player on the rival circuit over the past year, said he's going to make an effort to avoid discussing LIV going forward, according to GOLF.com's Sean Zak.

McIlroy has two PGA Championship titles to his name, winning at Kiawah in 2012 and at Valhalla in 2014.
