There are plenty of success stories each season on TOUR. But from consistency across tournaments to finding multiple wins, there are always a few players who stand out above the rest, whether they had a quieter season like Patrick Cantlay or a flashy breakout like Scottie Scheffler.

Here are our picks for a 2022 PGA TOUR All-Star team.

No All-Star team would be complete without the Player of the Year. For 2022, it was undoubtedly the 26-year-old from Texas who rocketed to World No. 1 status in a matter of two months. With four wins to his name - including two elevated-field events and the Masters - Scheffler was better than anyone. He also had four runner-ups, including one second-place finish at the U.S. Open. In the early portion of the 2022-23 season, he already has two top-10 finishes and a runner-up at the Hero World Challenge.

Last season, he was one of the best on TOUR when it came to iron play, topping the league in greens in regulation at 72.29%. Scheffler's game was so insanely well-rounded that he finished inside the top 60 in each of the TOUR's strokes gained categories.

McIlroy returned to World No. 1 this year for a reason. He won three times during the 2021-22 season and once already in 2022-23, and he's topping the DP World Tour's 2022 rankings. The Northern Irishman is enjoying a dominant year-end stretch.

One of the best drivers of his generation, the 33-year-old finished third in strokes gained: off the tee and second in overall distance in 2022. McIlroy is statistically solid across the board, placing inside the top 20 in five of the TOUR's six strokes gained categories and just 43rd in the other. So it's no surprise the four-time major champion also topped the league in scoring with a 68.67 average.

Smith won his first tournament in 2017, but it's hard not to consider his 2021-22 season a breakout. He was victorious three times, including the 150th Open Championship, and all three were won over strong fields. His win at St. Andrews was highlighted by a final-round 64, holding off the likes of McIlroy on his way to lifting the Claret Jug.

No one else's putting was as clutch as the Australian's in crucial winning instances this year. Smith led the TOUR in putting with a 1.679 average and was the best of anyone in avoiding three-putts with a 1.61 percentage. He finished behind only McIlroy in scoring with a 69.203 average and averaged more birdies in the season than anyone else. He may not play on the TOUR anymore, but his success in 2022 hasn't gone unnoticed.

Patrick Cantlay

Cantlay may not have had a super flashy season, but he had one of the most impressively consistent years of anyone. He earned two wins, three runner-ups, and a third-place finish. He led the TOUR in top-10 finishes in 2022 with 12 and only missed two cuts in 20 events. He had the sixth-best scoring average with 69.468 and finished inside the top 40 in all of the circuit's strokes gained categories.

While one of his two victories in 2022 came at a team event alongside Xander Schauffele, the other was at the second playoff event of the season. His successful title defense at the BMW Championship featured one of the most difficult fields on TOUR with only those who'd qualified through the FedEx Cup rankings.

It feels like Cantlay's Zurich Classic partner had a similarly quiet 2022, but the 29-year-old notched three wins, including the team event. Schauffele, too, missed just two cuts in 21 events this past season and also finished inside the top 40 in all of the six strokes gained categories. More impressively, he finished inside the top 15 in three of them.

He had the fifth-best scoring average with 69.462 and finished inside the top 25 in 15 events. He's also already recorded one top-10 finish in the 2022-23 campaign. It may have gone somewhat under the radar, but Schauffele had an impressive 2022.
