The American team enters as the massive favorite with a number of members coming off a record-breaking win at the Ryder Cup last year. Ten of the 12 players on the United States are ranked in the top 16 of the OWGR, higher than the top International player Hideki Matsuyama at No. 17.
Six players on the American team are making their Presidents Cup debut, including last week's Fortinet Championship winner, Max Homa. The 31-year-old will be very comfortable around Quail Hollow after claiming victory at the long course in the 2019 Wells Fargo Championship. Justin Thomas has also won at the Charlotte-area layout, taking home the 2017 PGA Championship.

The International team has been decimated by defections to LIV Golf, with Cameron Smith, Joaquin Niemann, Abraham Ancer, and Louis Oosthuizen among those deemed ineligible. Smith's absence is particularly noteworthy as the World No. 3 is arguably the best player on the planet right now.
Captain Trevor Immelman was forced to adapt in short order, with eight rookies making the roster alongside veteran Adam Scott. The Australian participated in nine previous Presidents Cups, coming away on the losing end each time.

Time for change: 2 ways to add drama to the Presidents Cup
The Americans have absolutely dominated the history of the Presidents Cup, holding an outrageous 11-1-1 record. With a number of strong International players opting to join LIV Golf, that mark only looks to be tilting further in the United States' direction. Change is needed to freshen up the format and inject some much-needed life back into the event. The easiest way to do that would be to bring the LPGA on board and make the event mixed. The most compelling way would be to strike some sort of truce with LIV and allow the Presidents Cup to be turned into a showdown between the rival organizations. Read full article.
5 iconic moments in Presidents Cup history
While the event has been very one-sided in favor of the Americans, there's been plenty of iconic moments over the previous 13 editions from both sides. As one can expect, Tiger Woods has played a large role in the history of the event, with his incredible reaction to his singles victory over Abraham Ancer in 2019 a lasting memory for all fans of golf.
