Byron Nelson preview: What to know for the TOUR's trip to Texas

Following a wet weekend at TPC Potomac that saw Max Homa grab his fourth victory, the PGA TOUR will head down to Texas for the Byron Nelson.

The field, which features four players currently inside the world's top 10, will compete for 500 FedEx Cup points and a portion of the $9.1-million purse.

K.H. Lee grabbed his first PGA TOUR win last year with a final-round 66. He finished at 25-under, three shots clear of Sam Burns, who finished solo second.

Lee shot all four rounds under par. His lowest score of the week was a 7-under 65, which he shot in both of the first two rounds.

Four players finished tied for third at four back, including Daniel Berger and Charl Schwartzel.

The field

World No. 1 and Texas resident Scottie Scheffler will be in the field for the first time since the Zurich Classic. The Masters winner is joined by fellow Texan and world No. 9 Jordan Spieth, who won the RBC Heritage a few weeks ago.

Justin Thomas (No. 8) and Sam Burns (No. 10) are the other two golfers in the top 10 participating this week. Fellow Texans in the field alongside Scheffler and Spieth include Will Zalatoris, Harry Higgs, and Ryan Palmer.

Recent winners Sung Kang (2019) and Aaron Wise (2018) join defending champion Lee in the event.

The course

The Byron Nelson returns to TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, for the second year in a row. The par 72, 7,468-yard course hosted the TOUR event for the first time last season.

The course, which opened in 2004 and was designed by Tom Weiskopf, is crossed by Rowlett Creek 14 times and features rolling hills and plenty of trees around the fairways.
