Despite finishing over 20 shots behind the Masters leader, Tiger Woods says he's just "thankful" he was able to play golf at Augusta.

"I keep saying it, but I am. I really am. I truly am," Woods said, per ASAP Sports. "Just to get to this point. Just to be able to play, and not only just to play, but I put up a good first round. ... I don't quite have the endurance that I would like to have had, but as of a few weeks ago, didn't even know if I was going to play in the event."

After suffering serious injuries in a car accident 14 months ago, the five-time Masters champion shocked the golfing world earlier this week when he announced he'd play this year's event. Woods further surprised fans by posting a 1-under 71 on Thursday before making the cut Friday during his first competitive action in over 500 days.

Woods faded on the weekend, as walking the grueling layout appeared tougher and tougher on the 46-year-old. His matching 6-over 78s on Saturday and Sunday were the worst rounds of his career at Augusta. However, Woods still considers his Masters appearance one of the greatest achievements of his career.

"For not winning an event, yes," he said. "Yes, without a doubt."

It's unclear when Woods will next see action. He committed Sunday to the Open Championship at St. Andrews in July, but he was unsure if he'll be ready to tee it up in the PGA Championship at Southern Hills next month.
