It's rare when Tiger Woods does something he's never achieved before at Augusta National, but Friday's dubious milestone isn't one the five-time champion will want to remember.

Woods recorded bogeys on four of his first five holes and stood on the sixth tee at 4-over for the day for the first time in 92 career rounds at the Masters.

Woods admitted afterward that harsh conditions and a couple of bad swings led to the rough stretch.

"It was blustery. It was windy. It was swirling all over the place. I hit a couple shots that got a couple bad gusts," Woods said on ESPN. "I also made a couple bad swings on top of that. On No. 4, I ended up in a divot. It was just, OK, what else can go wrong?"

The 46-year-old's ability to come back has defined his career, and he showed that again following his bogey on No. 5. Woods parred Nos. 6 and 7 before getting up-and-down for birdie on No. 8. He made three more birdies on the day and finished with a 2-over 74 to sit 1-over for the tournament.

The major concern for Woods going into the event was his ability to recover each night after the grueling walk at Augusta National. However, Woods appeared to be in good spirits when pressed on the matter in Butler Cabin.

"I don't feel as good as I'd like to feel, but that's OK," Woods said. "I got a chance going into the weekend. Hopefully, I have one of those light bulb moments and turn it on the weekend and get it done."

Woods sits just inside the top 20 and trails leader Scottie Scheffler by nine shots. Despite that deficit, Woods said he feels comfortable with the cool temperatures and windy conditions expected Saturday.

"Tomorrow is going to be a big day. It's going to be cool, it's going to be tough. The wind is supposed to blow again, tough scoring conditions," Woods said. "I need to go out there and handle my business, get into the red and give myself a chance going into that back nine on Sunday."
