The PGA TOUR plans to unveil a series of international tournaments offering guaranteed money to the world's top golfers, a source told Golfweek's Eamon Lynch.

The TOUR is reportedly planning to create four to six events held annually in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, with the fields limited to 50-60 players and no 36-hole cut. The series will start in the fall of 2023 at the earliest, but that could be pushed to 2024, per Lynch. Different format options are reportedly being considered, including a team aspect.

The amount of guaranteed money the TOUR will offer hasn't been finalized. However, the focus is to reward players with guaranteed money for attending an event rather than the traditional structure of golfers walking away empty-handed if they fail to make the cut, the source told Eamon.

The PGA TOUR is reportedly hoping the plan encourages the world's best players to compete overseas without losing a chance at FedEx Cup points.

The TOUR's move appears to be a response to the continued rumblings about the Super Golf League, a proposed alternative golf league financed by Saudi investors who are hoping to lure the sport's biggest names. The Super League has attempted for years to attract players with promises of money for appearing at events.

The PGA TOUR initially responded in April to the threat of their stars leaving by announcing the Player Impact Program, which will reward the 10 most prominent golfers by splitting $40 million among them at the end of each year.

Commissioner Jay Monahan also announced a strategic alliance with the European Tour - now rebranded as the DP World Tour - as another move to show unity against the Saudi threats.
