The PGA TOUR's Player Advisory Council (PAC) voted in favor of banning green-reading books with the rule being enforced as early as next season, according to Golfweek's Eamon Lynch.

The vote occurred two weeks ago, and PAC's support for the ban was described as being "overwhelming" by one person present, per Lynch.

Green-reading books, which are already not allowed at Augusta National, have become a dependable tool for a lot of PGA TOUR pros, including Bryson DeChambeau. However, the consistent use of them has created controversy in recent years, with many players, including PAC member Jon Rahm, speaking out against them.

"I don't think they should be allowed," the Spaniard said in February, according to TeeScripts. "That's my opinion. I think being able to read a green and read a break and understand the green is a talent, it's a skill that can be developed, and by just giving you the information, they're taking away from the game."

Rory McIlroy is the president of the 16-member PAC, which also includes Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel, and Zach Johnson.

The rule change will now be voted on by the PGA TOUR's full board as early as next week, according to Lynch.
