Canadian Adam Hadwin fired a blistering 6-under 66 in Round 1 of the Workday Charity Open on Thursday to hold an early one-shot lead.
After finishing in a tie for fourth at last week's Rocket Mortage Classic, Hadwin carded seven birdies to erase an opening-hole bogey at Muirfield Village. He now holds a narrow edge over Hideki Matsuyama, Zach Johnson, and fellow Canadian Nick Taylor, who are all tied for second at 5-under.
It was Hadwin's eighth consecutive round in the 60s on the PGA Tour.
Justin Thomas (4-under), Xander Schauffele (3-under), Jason Day (3-under), and Viktor Hovland (3-under) all had solid opening rounds in the morning wave.
