The PGA Tour will charter multiple jets for players and caddies to travel between tournaments once play restarts at the Charles Schwab Challenge on June 11, according to Golf.com's Alan Shipnuck.
Chartered flights would prevent the need for players to fly commercially, as the majority of pros can't afford the luxury of private travel. It would also limit time spent in airports by those associated with the PGA Tour.
After the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, the PGA Tour has consecutive events planned in South Carolina (RBC Heritage), Connecticut (Travelers Championship), Michigan (Rocket Mortgage Classic), and Illinois (John Deere Classic).
PGA Tour player Brendon Todd outlined last week the circuit's COVID-19 testing plan for tournaments to be held, and the chartering of flights is another question answered regarding the restart plan.
Todd said he was told that players would take one test at home before traveling to an event, one before entering tournament grounds, and potentially another during the tournament. Players will be forced to self-quarantine for 14 days if they test positive and the tournament will continue.
It's expected the PGA Tour will announce later this week a detailed restart plan outlining all the requirements needed for the schedule to resume.
