Rickie Fowler and Scottie Scheffler share a one-shot lead after 36 holes of The American Express in Palm Springs, California.

Fowler went out early on Friday and shot an 8-under 64 on the Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West. He's made only one bogey through two rounds to sit at 15-under par.

Scheffler posted a 64 too, though his scorecard shows a double-bogey. It's the third time during the 2019-20 season the 23-year-old has held a piece of a 36-hole lead.

Andrew Landry tops the group chasing the leaders after firing an 8-under 64 at La Quinta Country Club. Landry lost in a playoff to Jon Rahm at the Palm Springs event in 2018.

Here's how the top of the leaderboard stands after Round 2:

The entire field will be in action on Saturday. The cut will be made after 54 holes, with the top 65 including ties advancing to play the final round at the Stadium Course at PGA West.
